Qual a importância do controle do fósforo na alimentação do paciente com DRC?

O manejo nutricional possui um papel fundamental no tratamento da doença renal crônica. A nutrição adequada pode proporcionar um aumento na sobrevida de gatos e de cães com DRC, além da melhora na qualidade de vida (JACOB et al., 2002).

O principal objetivo da nutrição, neste caso, é colaborar para o controle da progressão da doença e minimizar os efeitos negativos consequentes da evolução desta patologia (QUÉAU, 2013). O fósforo se apresenta como um dos principais vilões na DRC e requer controle monitorado durante toda a vida do paciente (ROSS et al., 2006).
