Como escolher a dieta para gatos com enteropatia crônica?

Alimentos coadjuvantes com perfil gastrointestinal ou hipoalergênicos são boas apostas

Manifestações clínicas como vômitos frequentes, diarreias recorrentes, hiporexia e perda de peso são inespecíficos e indicam a necessidade de investigação clínica (1).

Quando essas manifestações se prolongam por mais de três semanas, precisamos considerar as enteropatias crônicas, um termo que, atualmente, substitui a nomenclatura “doença inflamatória intestinal” (DII) na Medicina Veterinária (1,2).

Essa mudança terminológica reflete melhor a fisiopatogenia da doença em cães e gatos, que, diferentemente dos humanos com DII (como doença de Crohn ou colite ulcerativa), costumam responder ao manejo dietético.

Em muitos casos, a simples troca de alimento é suficiente para o controle clínico, dispensando o uso de medicamentos (2,3).
